Halloween Zombie-ocalypse

posted by The Dark Prince

Happy Halloween, everyone! By now you should all be out trick-or-treating, preparing for the late night parties, or climbing out of your grave for a night out on the town. Me? Well, I’m just getting over a cold, so instead of getting out to a club, I’ll be home, watching the Are You Afraid of the Dark? marathon on the NickToon Network, and coughing on all the candy I hand out so that every kid in the neighborhood is sick next week :P

Just in time for Halloween, the good people of Runawaybox just released another cool video, the theme being office zombies. Enjoy!

The Takeover - S03E08 - Halloween Fail - (ep63)

 The Takeover - S03E08 - Halloween Fail [96:11m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (137)

We’re sorry!

Really guys, we are, we had technical difficulties once again while attempting to broadcast from Churchill’s Pub & Grille in San Marcos, CA. This time we came damn close to pulling it off, but in the end we just couldn’t get it going live for you. But, as promised, we did record the show, including the live performance by ZeaLouS1!

Our apologies to Raven Sorvino, who drove down all the way from LA to be on the bill, and who only got to perform a couple of songs at the tail end of the night. Unfortunately we weren’t able to record her performance, but we definitely recommend heading over to her MySpace and downloading her latest album, Real Fresh, completely free of charge. Really, it has the official Takeover stamp of approval, so you know it has to be awesome.

This Sunday Night, Live Halloween Show

posted by The Dark Prince

Live Halloween Show Flyer

The Takeover packs up the studio this Sunday night for a special, never before attempted (well, we did try that one time, but that doesn’t count) live remote broadcast of our Halloween show at Churchill’s Pub & Grille! This looks to be an exciting all-ages event, as it marks the first live remote broadcast of the Takeover, as well as it’s first full on-air performance (other than Z1’s classic weekly show-stopping freestyles, of course). KKSM AM 1320 Palomar College Radio and Subnation are also fully backing the live show, which means we’ve got a $50.00 cash prize for our Halloween costume contest, a box full of t-shirts, hats, CDs, and bags to give away, and to top it all off, LA hip-hop artist Raven Sorvino will be coming down for a live on-air performance.

Oh, yeah, ZeaLouS1 will also be performing ;P

This is not a show to miss! If you’re in the SoCal area, come down, dress up and join in the fun! If you’re not, we will be broadcasting LIVE from the pub, so tune in at 6 PM PST at 247Takeover.com!

Visit Eventful.com for full details.

An awesome show! The real return of Silent D. in the studio! An interview with Madhatter!

The ball kept rolling this past Sunday, where we found out where SD has been for the past five months, learned of the deadly chupacabras roaming the southern Californian territory, got into our money troubles, started an official beef war with Sangriaa and Nina of Vagina Deep in Podcast, reminisced about our times with Matthew McConaughey, spoke highly of Eminem, shared our WoW patch update stories, asked ourselves why teenagers take naked pictures of themselves and post it on the Internets, went through the 9 awesome places to have sex, and closed everything out with a technical difficulties ridden freestyle.

California! Today is the last day to register to vote in our great state! If you haven’t registered to vote, do it! I helped my 72 year old grandfather, and my 20 year old sister register to vote for the first time in both of their lives, so you know it’s important. Find some info here on how to register today from SD’s local newspaper, and get out there so you can vote on November 4.

Left 4 Dead Available 4 Pre-Order

posted by The Dark Prince

Left 4 Dead

This past Takeover episode, we brought up the 15 most highly anticipated games of the holiday season, and Valve’s Left 4 Dead was one of them. Download the episode to hear ZeaLouS1 drool on-air over the possibility of joining up with people across the Internets and laying waste to thousands of the undead, or to even turning on those same people and becoming one of the walked dead himself. Here’s the official write-up:

From Valve (the creators of Counter-Strike, Half-Life and more) comes Left 4 Dead, a co-op action horror game for the PC and Xbox 360 that casts up to four players in an epic struggle for survival against swarming zombie hordes and terrifying mutant monsters.

Set in the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, L4D’s survival co-op mode lets you blast a path through the infected in four unique “movies,” guiding your survivors across the rooftops of an abandoned metropolis, through rural ghost towns and pitch-black forests in your quest to escape a devastated Ground Zero crawling with infected enemies. Each “movie” is comprised of five large maps, and can be played by one to four human players, with an emphasis on team-based strategy and objectives.

New technology dubbed “the AI Director” is used to generate a unique gameplay experience every time you play. The Director tailors the frequency and ferocity of the zombie attacks to your performance, putting you in the middle of a fast-paced, but not overwhelming, Hollywood horror movie.

The game looks right up the Takeover’s alley, the dark and fun-filled zombie fest that it is, so I’m sure we’ll be playing it when it’s released November 18. Head over to the Steam website to pre-order it for the PC, or your favorite console gaming outlet if you’d like it for the Xbox 360.

Check out some excellent gameplay footage after the jump!

Ticketma$ter

posted by The Dark Prince

I just noticed that some of my favorite female artists are performing together on the same night as part of the Hotel Cafe Tour at the Music Box in LA next month, including Rachael Yamagata, Meiko, Kate Havnevik, and Emily Wells. I really wanted to go, and tickets were only $20.00, so I clicked through to Ticketmaster to buy a ticket, and this is what it all came down to:

Ticketmaster Screenshot

For those that are too lazy to do the math, the grand total comes to $38.30 . . . but the ticket only costs $20.00. WTF, mate? I mean, a building charge, a convenience charge, an order processing charge, and a TicketFast charge. All totaling $18.30. Almost doubling the cost of the ticket. I closed the browser window right there before they could add tax lest I faint from sheer shock.

Okay, let’s break it down. A building fee. Okay, I get that, House of Blues has been doing it for years. It sucks that they just don’t add that into the cost of the ticket. It’s kinda like saying, okay, pay this money for the band, but to see the band in a special room with a roof over your head, you also need to pay this amount of money. By the way, the money you gave to the band, yeah, some of that goes to the venue, too. Fine, I’ll pay it only because I’ve been paying it for years.

The good ol’ convenience charge. Ticketmaster has been steadily increasing this fee for years. I’m no economist, maybe it has something to do with inflation, maybe it has to do with the recent financial crisis, but I remember this fee being way, way lower 10 years ago, and today it’s damn near $10.00. But okay, fine, TM has to get paid too, right? This goes to pay for computer servers, and people to process your order, and those official Ticketmaster tickets, so yeah, I’ll pay it, but really, don’t push your luck with the fee increases in the future.

Order processing charge. Seriously? Are you serious? What the hell was that “convenience” charge all about then if you’re going to charge me for processing my order?! C’mon, seriously! I have no idea what this is even for, I’ve never seen it before, it’s like Ticketmaster broke off their actual group that takes your ticket order away from the people that actually get your ticket to you, and since they’re two separate entities, they both need to get paid. I’m sorry, but I’m dangerously close to calling shenanigans on this one, it’s just . . . wow, an order processing charge.

TicketFast, I have never understood. You’re actually going to charge me $2.50 to use my own printer, paper, ink, time and engery to make my own ticket, effectively saving you the cost, materials, time and energy of mailing my ticket to me in the mail? Take a second and read what I just wrote and tell me that doesn’t sound completely backwards. Something I also noticed, Ticketmaster no longer ships you tickets for free via USPS, the only free option is to have your tickets available for you waiting at will-call, meaning you can’t give them to a friend if you won’t be able to make it for whatever reason. For $1.00, you can have your ticket waiting for you at one of the many Ticketmaster retail locations, which you are able to pick up at your convenience, and they’ll use their own printer, paper and ink to print out a ticket for you, or for as little as $14.50 or as much as $25.00 you can have your tickets shipped via UPS and receive them in 3 business days or less.

So, while I can’t really say anything bad about Ticketmaster the company, since they’re indirectly paying my salary right now, and I’ve always had great experiences with them over the past decade I’ve been buying concert tickets (I have a fat stack of stubs at home from every show I’ve ever been to, and 90 percent of them are from TM) I will make a plea to them: “C’mon Ticketmaster. M’kay? Times are tough, I just want to catch a show and relax, and not be making life decisions while I’m on your ticketing site — ‘Did I eat today? Man, I only got but three cigarettes, I don’t know . . . ‘”

Such a great show! We’re really sorry if you missed it live, we had trouble with our server all throughout the show, which led to a great deal of cutting out and connection errors. Don’t worry though, we have the podcast version all ready to go for your listening pleasure!

This week we interview the lovely and talented Raven Sorvino, tried to keep on point with the San Diego Chargers dominating the New England Patriots in the background, got into some of the most highly anticipated games we’re hoping Santa brings us this holiday season, talked about WoW hardware and the upcoming expansion, brought up all kinds of pending lawsuits and litigations, some our own, some other people’s, mourned the shut-down of Mother’s Cookies, and closed out everything with a freestyle.
