Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, in a world where love was against the law, during the age of the Aquarius, in the year of the dragon, on the day of the return, in the hour of . . . I think, maybe it was around six o’clock, THE TAKEOVER WAS BORN!

Actually, we believe it was August 2006 that the Takeover first began, but back then it was called “The Rundown,” and it was solely hosted by Andy Diaz, AKA Silent D, on local San Marcos college radio station KKSM AM 1320. That late summer, Silent D. made contact with his long lost friend Beau D., AKA ZeaLouS1. Silent D. heard some of ZeaLouS1’s music and loved it so much that he asked ZeaLouS1 to do his very first interview on The Rundown. The interview went remarkably well, showing off Z1’s charming personality and humor, and giving SD a feeling of relaxation and comfort behind the microphone with his friend beside him. Having worked so well together, Silent D. asked ZeaLouS1 to become a permanent part of the show, and to play his music on-air whenever he created something new. And create something new he would . . .

A few shows into his new role as guest host, ZeaLouS1 asked his friend Anthony to come into the studio as a guest, and Anthony happily agreed, having listened to both Z1 and SD each and every week, enjoying their antics and dialogue. As Anthony sat down and said hello to everyone on-air, ZeaLouS1 introduced him as The Dark Prince, a nickname Z1 had given him years earlier. As the three got into the show, it was obvious that a new dynamic was formed with the addition of The Dark Prince, and that he brought an intelligent, yet cynical and sarcastic point of view, bringing both thought and humor to the conversation. With the new formation, the young men would spin-off the talk-entertainment portion of The Rundown into The Takeover, bringing a fresh, new voice to the airwaves.

One night, after completing a night production for The Takeover, The Dark Prince handed ZeaLouS1 a disc of music he had come across on the Internet, a CD called Rhyme Torrents, Volume 1. ZeaLouS1 would take that CD home, and he would listen to it, and he would finally see what destiny had planned for him and his life. That fall, he would release his first album, Assimilation Process: Complete, and begin his career in music.

The Takeover would play ZeaLouS1 music every show, and fans would come in droves to the show, building an audience in numbers so great that they would fatefully one day bring down the mighty computer servers of the prominent radio station KKSM! So massively alluring the show would be that it wasn’t long before disciples would travel far and wide, from as far east as the oceans of Atlantic, and as far north as the hills of Canadia. But one, a young boy, foretold by his elders that he would go on to one day become the man to rule the all mighty console board of The Takeover, traveled across the great distance of the Vista into the San of Marcos to the studio lair of the show. That boy was Tony B., and his first appearance on the Takeover would be as a call-in to the studio phone line. Tony B. gave the cast of the show proper instructions for conducting a seance during their fabled first Halloween show, having been learned in the many dark arts of his homeland by the most talented and feared of magicians. As the year faded into another, and The Dark Prince took a leave of absence from the show, Tony B. rose to the ranks of the strong and brave and took his rightful place among the cast of The Takeover, fulfilling the elders prophecy and his destiny.

Okay, so maybe that elders and magic and destiny stuff didn’t happen, but what did happen was that The Takeover was now four strong, and from there they would produce the highest rated show on KKSM AM 1320 and develop a great fan following of the most die-hard fans.

During the summer of 2008, Silent D. would take his own leave of absence from the show, and for a time, it looked as if The Takeover might finally come to an end, one much too soon. But, at the request of KKSM manager Zeb, and the effort brought forth by the young Tony B., the show continues to this day, under the creative control of The Dark Prince, and powered by the star power of ZeaLouS1. We bring you music and entertainment every Sunday night at 6 PM PST, so tune in and listen, and become part of the story.
