Hard to Be Bold If You’re Not Here
posted by The Dark Prince

You may have heard us talk a little about cell phones on this past show, and my dilemma in picking up a new one after the fateful fall and break of my Helio Ocean this summer, and that I was seriously thinking about picking up an iPhone. I made an appointment, on-line, which should show you that I’m serious. But, when I went to go the the Apple store here in Carlsbad, CA, I somehow got it in my head that it was in a shopping center that it really was not. This was either a sign from above that I should not own an iPhone, or a swift kick in the pants that I should really get an iPhone that has the new GPS features so I know where the hell I’m going.
To tell you the truth, I’ve really been waiting for the Blackberry Bold, because, well, it’s all business in a sexy suit, and that’s really what I’m all about. When I’m out in the field, doing managerial work for ZeaLouS1, I need to know that I can get the job done, whatever that may entail. I need my e-mail on me at all times, because you never know when some VIP wants to collab, and I need 3G Internet access to access the MySpaces because adding fans is very important, and I really do need my GPS with turn-by-turn driving directions so that I can get Z1 to the venue on time. I think the Bold does all of this, and possibly much better than the iPhone, so that’s why I’m going to continue to wait it out.
I might not have to wait that long, as according to reports, Best Buy has it in it’s system to drop October 26. If I can get it by the first week of November, I’m sold, if not, then I guess I’ll settle for the iPhone, which isn’t too much of a trade off.
Check out this very cool video from CrackBerry.com showing what the Bold can do after the jump.

Okay, this just goes on to further prove that California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger listens to the Takeover and/or 247Takeover.com. Why else would he pass a no texting while driving law (which goes into effect January 1) mere days
Says the Governator, "Banning electronic text messaging while driving will keep drivers' hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road, making our roadways a safer place for all Californians."
Man, if that wasn't exactly the point I made earlier this week. So, now that I officially have the governor's ear, I'll have to bring up that pesky no-touch law regarding California strip clubs. Or is that a municipal regulation? Ah, I'll bring it up next time Arnold and I are out on the links, smoking cigars and talking about how the current economic crisis is affecting sales of the Blu-Ray edition of Predator.

Not Guilty, Your Honor

If you were listening to the beginning of the Takeover on Sunday, just before ZeaLouS1 finally arrived and we could start the show proper, you heard the tale of my brush with Johnny Law and the new ban on driving while using a cell phone in the great state of California. Well, yesterday, I had my actual day in court to make my plea. After waiting for an hour, talking to a clerk, waiting for another half an hour for a court session to start, sitting through 10 minutes of instructions, waiting for a dozen or so people to step up before the judge, I finally got to plead not guilty . . . by reason of insanity.
No, not really, but, dude, how cool would that have been if I had?
I plead not guilty to the charge of driving while using a cell phone, and after waiting another 20 minutes, got my court appearance date scheduled for November 21, where I will throw myself on mercy of the court. I’ll also be throwing my phone bill down for the month of July, proving beyond a shadow of a reasonable doubt that the defendant placed no calls two hours prior to or after the citing officer halted said vehicle. Thank you, the defense rests.
Also, for everyone’s information, though Michael Diver quoted differently, it is in fact legal to text and drive in the state of California, except for drivers younger than 18, so says this document from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. So there you have it, don’t talk on your cell phone while driving people, but do let go of the wheel, use both hands and keep your head down to text that all important wht r u up 2.
