Vote (Even If They Say You Can’t)

You all know what tomorrow is, so the last thing I wanted to put up about the election is a link to this Wired.com article about what to do if you get to the poll and the nice gentleman or miss at the polls tells you that you can’t vote. Because you can. Don’t let them tell you otherwise.

If you know that you registered before your state’s deadline, and that you fulfill every voter requirement, then “Federal law requires states to allow voters to cast a provisional ballot if a voter claims he registered before the state’s registration deadline and is eligible to vote.”

So if you have trouble tomorrow, use that information in the article to get your vote counted.

Okay. That’s all. GO VOTE!

California! Today is the last day to register to vote in our great state! If you haven’t registered to vote, do it! I helped my 72 year old grandfather, and my 20 year old sister register to vote for the first time in both of their lives, so you know it’s important. Find some info here on how to register today from SD’s local newspaper, and get out there so you can vote on November 4.

Vote or Die

Election 2008

We got into a little bit of politics on this past show, brought up by last week’s debate, and the theme of our discussion was that none of us really had a great grasp on this upcoming election. Not totally ignorant, of course, but not all that informed, either. We do know that it is extremely important to vote, though, so the question is, who do you vote for?

ZeaLouS1 voiced his distrust for news media outlets, and we got into his point of view that it’s very difficult to become properly informed when you have networks, media outlets, paid advertisements and political parties all screaming in your ear. To make things easier, I did a little work (really, I just opened my e-mail inbox) and found a CNET TV video that gave out some great websites to become more informed on current politics and the upcoming election. Here’s a few:

Is Barack Obama really a Muslim terrorist? Did John McCain really kill “fiddy mehn” in Japan and Germany? FactCheck.org sorts out all the statements, accusations, and admiration that are circling about in the news and gives you the straight answers you need.

October 20 is the last day you can register to vote in the November 4 presidential election in the state of California. Do you know the last day you can register in your state? How about where to go to vote when the big day comes? If you’re coming up blank, Vote411.org has all the info you need to get your vote counted, giving you polling locations, state ballot info, and they can even get you registered if you haven’t already.

To answer that all important question, “Who do I vote for?” head over to glassbooth where you answer a few questions and the candidates that are best suited for your vote pop up–Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney scored 86% for me, with Obama just behind at 81% and McCain trailing off at 48%. They even tell you why the candidates received the scores that they did, and explain why you may or may not want to vote for them.

So get registered, informed, and then out to the polls November 4. For more sites and info, watch the video from CNET TV after the jump.
