Also Saturday Night, Progress
posted by The Dark Prince

Ah, completely forgot that I already made plans to check out upcoming Takeover guest Progress at the Kava Lounge in San Diego this Saturday night. That’s where I’ll be. If you’re in LA, check out the Suicide Girls at Club Suicide, and if you’re in SD, come check out Progress with me at the Kava Lounge.

The Takeover - S03E08 - Halloween Fail - (ep63)
posted by The Dark Prince
We’re sorry!
Really guys, we are, we had technical difficulties once again while attempting to broadcast from Churchill’s Pub & Grille in San Marcos, CA. This time we came damn close to pulling it off, but in the end we just couldn’t get it going live for you. But, as promised, we did record the show, including the live performance by ZeaLouS1!
Our apologies to Raven Sorvino, who drove down all the way from LA to be on the bill, and who only got to perform a couple of songs at the tail end of the night. Unfortunately we weren’t able to record her performance, but we definitely recommend heading over to her MySpace and downloading her latest album, Real Fresh, completely free of charge. Really, it has the official Takeover stamp of approval, so you know it has to be awesome.
Songs and links to the news and topics after the jump!

Don’t miss this upcoming Takeover, it’s already shaping up to be the best of the season, so far, so tune in right here on Sunday night at 6 PM PST!

Notorious Trailer
posted by The Dark Prince
Here’s the trailer for the biopic for the late Notorious B.I.G., simply titled Notorious. Though the relatively unknown Jamal Woolard stars as Biggie Smalls, Angela Bassett was cast as his mother, Voletta Wallace, so it’s already got ten times more credibility than 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ ever will. Did anybody see that movie? Man, it was God awful, and the ending just left me going, “What the hell? Are you serious?” Yeah, don’t watch that, but do check out this trailer for Notorious, as it looks like it might not be half bad.

12th Anniversary of the Death of Tupac Shakur
posted by The Dark Prince

September 13, 1996. I remember it was night, and I was sitting in my grandparents’ living room, and my grandmother was flipping the channels on the television, when I caught 2Pac’s image on MTV. I asked her to change it back, really, really, quick, and that’s how I found out 2Pac had died. I had known he was in critical condition from his shooting in Las Vegas, but I really didn’t know much more than that. I think I might have thought he might actually be alright. But . . . no. Tupac Shakur died that night, at the age of 25.
I’m 26, now.
I found this blog post by someone through Google, and I found it very endearing, retrospective and truthful. In it, the author talks about her sonic relationship with 2Pac, her opinion on who the actual man was, and thinks on who Tupac Shakur might have become today. The article also includes an embedded YouTube video of that same MTV news break I saw 12 years ago.
We’ll definitely be bringing up 2Pac on tomorrow’s show, play some music from his epic yet short-lived career, and ask Random his thoughts on the iconic rapper, who Blender Magazine called (immediately following Random’s October 2008 article) “the most overrated thing in music.”
I would love to play this song tomorrow live on-air, it’s one of my favs from The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, but it being a 2Pac song, there’s some, well, explicit and controversial content within it, so here’s a fan made YouTube video for it.

Half of a New Website
posted by The Dark Prince
Welcome to the new Takeover website! Kinda. I whipped this up over the weekend, which is why things look promising, but there’s stuff missing and/or broken all over the place. And the comments won’t work for some reason. Fuck it. I tried. Boxing is coming on, so I’ll work on it more later. Or maybe tomorrow. Depends on how many shots of tequila I have.
The first REAL show is tomorrow night, none of this calling in from the road bullshit. I’ll be in the studio with ZeaLouS1 and Tony B. from 6-9 PM PST. We’ll be interviewing Random around 7 PM, who just dropped the incredible “8th Day” and is performing with Common in Arizona this weekend. This show will also the first REAL attempt at some outlined structure and discussion now that I’ve dubbed myself the creative director of the show, which means the show should be much more entertaining. In theory, anyway. One can dream, right?
Tune in tomorrow and see what happens.
